Custom Fiber Optic Cables, Patch cord and accessories

OPGW Feature:

(1) High-voltage lines above 110kV (generally over 250m) with large spans;

(2) Easy maintenance, solving the problem of crossing lines, with mechanical properties meeting the requirements for large crossings;

(3) The outer layer of the OPGW is metallic armor, which is not affected by high-voltage electric corrosion and degradation;

(4) The power supply must be cut off during OPGW construction, and the power loss is significant. Therefore, new OPGW should be used for high-voltage lines above 110kV;

(5) In the performance indicators of OPGW, the larger the short-circuit current, the more good conductors are needed as armor, and the corresponding tensile strength decreases. Under certain strength conditions, the only way to increase the short-circuit current capacity is to increase the metal cross-sectional area, which leads to an increase in the outer diameter and weight of the optical cable, raising safety issues related to the strength of the towers.

OPGW FIBER OPTIC CABLE

There are two types of composite cable structures:

Central Loose Tube Type: The optical fibers are loosely placed in a sealed, water-blocking stainless steel tube filled with water-blocking compound. Under different environmental conditions, the steel tube provides protection for the optical fibers during operation and insulation processes. An aluminum layer outside the tube is optional. The stainless steel is located at the center of the optical cable, protected by one or more layers of aluminum-clad steel and aluminum-wrapped wires. The aluminum-clad steel wires are arranged in a trapezoidal distribution around the optical unit to form a compact structure. The metal wires provide mechanical strength to withstand harsh installation and operating conditions and control temperature rise under short-circuit conditions to achieve conductivity.

OPGW model cables can accommodate up to 48 optical fibers. Despite the high number of optical fibers in one tube, each fiber can be clearly distinguished using a fiber identification system that includes color and numerical ring marks. Its compact design features high mechanical strength and fault current ratings within a small diameter, allowing for excellent vertical tensile performance even with a smaller diameter.

Layer Stranded Type: The optical fibers are loosely placed in a sealed, water-blocking stainless steel tube filled with water-blocking compound. Two or three stainless steel optical tubes are distributed in a helical shape within the multilayer optical cable.

Layer stranded optical cables are mostly used in cases requiring a very high number of optical fibers count, generally more than 48, with a maximum of 144. Layer stranded optical cables can meet the requirements of large spans and high current capacities.

OPGW composite cables are installed on transmission and distribution lines to transmit voice, data, and video communication signals. They are especially used in lightning waveform monitors, overhead test lines, data maintenance for information systems, power lines for protection systems, power lines for operating systems, and monitoring systems for unmanned monitoring stations.
